Clara Brown Commons is a mixed-income affordable housing community situated in the Cole neighborhood. The project is named after Clara Brown, known as the “Angel of the Rockies”. It consists of a four-story midrise with 61 apartments, utilizing the average-income test to accommodate families at 20%, 30%, 50%, 60%, and 80% of the area median income. The apartments are distributed as 14 one-bedroom, 28 two-bedroom, and 19 three-bedroom homes. The community's vision is summarized as: “Clara Brown Commons promotes belonging for residents and neighbors by creating a safe and caring community where we can stabilize our lives, expand our economic capacity, and deepen spiritual connectedness.”
